BTMM 1701 Sec. #1 Fourth Project- Video Editing. on Vimeo

Posted in Uncategorized on December 1, 2008 by jedijohn

This is a video I made for my BTMM 1701 “Intro to Media Tech” course that taught us how to use Avid. This video makes use of multitrack video, title cards, cut aways, asynchronous and synchronous audio and video. I always learned about some transitions by using a dissolve in the beginning and end.The video itself is about a man who owns a horse stable in the Belmont section of Fairmount park. Its pretty boring, but its the only material I had to work with. Enjoy.

Audio Project

For my audio editing project I chose to use the interview between a teen girl named Ebony and her grandmother. For this project I took a 30 minute interview and edited it down to three minutes. This interview interested me because the other ones were not as clear and linear as this one. The way I decided to edit it was based on the content of the interview that best ran together to form a story. This three minute piece takes you through Ebony’s grandmothers past, current, and future goals for her and then what the two think of each other. For this project I used Adobe Audition and Avid Xpress Pro. Both programs were overwhelming at first however after several weeks of tinkering around with them I got the basics down and was able to successfully edit my audio. The hardest part of this was editing the cuts so them flowed seamlessly together. When I first started editing I would have obvious signs that the pieces were cut and put together however after some tweaking I was able to make it sound as though there was no cutting. Hope you enjoy.

SD & HD Photoshops

This post is about my HS and SD photoshop edits. I have both slides play automatically and in the same order so you can compare and contrast the two different edits to see how different a simple filter can make a picture look.

This first slideshow is of my SD pictures. Being new to Photoshop I wasn’t sure what the filters were all about so I decided to just mess around with them for this set. I used a lot of filters, however the ones in this slideshow are the ones I liked the best.

For my HD slideshow below I decided now that I knew which filters I liked and what they looked like I would go for a more artistic look. I learned out to use the lasso tool to cutout parts of pictures and create layers out of them. This slideshow is mostly a showcase of cutouts with filters applied them, while the background or other layers are left untouched (aside from color correction). I also messed around with applying two different filters to create a few unique looking pictures, I did this by making layers of certain things, then applying one filter (in a few cases, two to the same layer) and apply a different one to the background. Anyways these are pretty cool and I am happy with their outcome.

My Slideshow

This is my slideshow for “Intro to Media Technology”. I chose to show the community of AKL, Alpha Kappa Lambda. This slideshow chronicles my day there and our travels throughout Philadelphia, which is a community of itself.
